LKAB published a resource estimate for the Per Geijer ores, highlighting a significant amount of REEs associated with the Fe-(P) ore. According to the estimate, the Per Geijer deposit contains 585 Mt @ 50.5% Fe, 2.41% P (Measured/Indicated + Inferred), and 0.18% TREO (Inferred), amounting to more than 1 Mt of rare earth oxides, making it the largest deposit in Europe. Test work by the company to date produced an apatite concentrate with P2O5 greater than 34% and TREO between 0.84% and 0.85%. An application for an exploitation concession is planned to be submitted in 2023.
