Eclipse Metals reported results from investigating an old diamond hole drilled into the center of the historic Ivigtut mine in Greenland. Logging and XRF analysis of the upper part of the hole resulted in a better understanding of the remaining mineralization under the present Ivigtut open pit floor. Notably, two zones of zinc-rich mineralization have been identified below the remaining cryolite and fluorite mineralization.
pXRF analysis of the historic core also identified elevated niobium in the greisen body underlying the lower iron-zinc-copper zone that is known to be enriched in REEs, niobium, tin, tantalum, and tungsten.
