Talga Group reported a 54% increase of its Vittangi Graphite Resource, adding more than 10 million tonnes to a previous estimate. Based on 2021 drilling, and following the latest update, the global Vittangi mineral resource estimate now amounts to 30.1 million tonnes @ 24.1 % Cg, with 22.6Mt @24.9% Cg defined as indicated resources and 7.5Mt @ 21.8% Cg defined as inferred resources. This makes Vittangi Europe’s largest, defined graphite resource, while it remains the world’s highest-grade graphite mineral resource. According to the company, the contained graphite at Vittangi could potentially provide enough battery anode material for approx. 60 million electric vehicles.
On May 2nd, an additional drill campaign of 36 holes for approx. 4155m was completed with first assay results expected in July. Following this, the company plans to further update the resource estimate later this year. Additional drilling to connect Nunasvaara East and Nunasvaara North is also planned for the future.
